Volume Types

All storage devices consist of Data Center-class SSDs and HDDs

All storage is encrypted at rest with AES256 or stronger

gp1 storage is meant for general purpose uses without guarantees for performance

gp1 storage is fair-share Ceph SSD storage with 3x replication across nodes

gp1 supports quick-cloning from raw images

Non-gp1 SSD storage is NOT Ceph-based, uses NVMe SSDs, and is designed for 100's of thousands of IOPS with low latency (sub-1 millisecond)

All SSD volume types (except nr2 and nr3) use mirror replication across nodes

sc1 and st1 volume types use 3x replication across nodes

SSD storage uses 16KiB I/O sizes for IOPS calculations

Provisioned IOPS (piops) storage provides guaranteed IOPS performance
